Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her first Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across theatre and on television. she will continue that project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It will also be available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production is produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who brought you Hamilton. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment trial in the United States in over a century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is an Denver native who now divides her time in Los Angeles.
